At Birkdale Primary, we ensure that children are not only informed of their rights as a child but also that they understand when, where and how these rights apply to them and how to stand up for these rights at all times. Through our diverse curriculum, School Charter, assemblies and enrichment days, children are taught how to stand up for their rights and what they should expect from the adults supporting them. Furthermore, all children and adults in our school community understand that they have a range of responsibilities to uphold these rights and these are reviewed each year by the School Council and Governing Body and presented in our School Charter.
To acknowledge the work that we do, we aim to work towards achieving the Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Bronze award by the end of this academic year. We will hopefully then go on to work towards Silver and then Gold. Keep an eye on this page to see how we are getting along!
