6C

Welcome to 6C

Our class teacher is Mrs Corlett.

During the school week we will also be taught by Miss Kool (Mondays), Mr Gallagher (Monday afternoon for PE) and Mrs Grice (Wednesday afternoon for Science).

We are very lucky to have Mrs Weston, Mrs McCormac and Mrs Harding working in year 6 with us too!

Important Information:

  • Our day begins at 08:50am and ends at 3:20pm (remember our school doors open at 08:40am and close at 08:50am).

  • P.E. is on Monday (outdoor) and Friday (indoor), so you need to come dressed in your P.E. kit.

  • Bags - Should you need to bring a bag to school each day, please ensure that this bag is either a book bag or a small bag which will easily fit inside your locker.

  • Equipment - You will be provided with all the equipment you need. If you would like to bring your own colouring pencils (pencil case) in, you are allowed. However, the teacher will decide when it can and cannot be used.

  • Reading books - These will be issued in the first full week back.  Please remember to look after these and keep your diary up to date.  You will be awarded Dojos for evidence of home reading.

  • SNACK - You can bring a healthy snack for your morning break.

This snack MUST ONLY BE FRUIT OR VEGETABLES.  Anything else is not permitted and will not be able to be eaten.  This is for the safety of other children who may have allergies.

Homework schedule

During the Easter holidays, homework will take on a slightly different format. Instead of new learning, the focus will be on revision activities to help consolidate key skills and knowledge. This is to support pupils in preparing confidently for their SATs after the break.

EASTER HALF TERM HOMEWORK

Maths - KS2 Arithmetic test – (2016 sample) 30 minutes.

Grammar - KS2 Grammar test – (2016 sample) 45 minutes.

Reading/Comprehension – SATS Comprehension booklet, 'The Yellow Train', pages 12 and 13.

ALL EASTER HALF TERM REVISION is DUE ON MONDAY 13th APRIL

It is important that you are organised and know your logins for TTRS and continue practising your timetables at home throughout the academic year. They are an essential part of your mathematical learning.

Reading

There is an expectation that you will read every day for at least 20 minutes.  It is always nice to share reading with someone when you can.  If you need some ideas for new books to enjoy, please have a look at the suggested reading list for year 6 on our class page.  Your reading diaries will be collected in every Wednesday, so please have your diaries signed so we can see evidence of home reading - Dojos will be awarded!!

Don't forget to extend your learning by answering the questions in the cover of your reading books.

Times tables

Please continue to practise your times tables regularly and use Times Table Rock Stars and Monster Multiplication (on Purple Mash) as often as you can. TTRS checks will take place every Friday during our maths lesson.
