The team at Birkdale are so passionate about the school and all the children, so when I was voted in as parent governor I was delighted to be able to give some of my time back. I am a very approachable and always do my best to support people so as a positive outcome can be achieved.

Mrs Kate McKenzie
My name is Kate McKenzie and I have been a Governor at Birkdale Primary School since 2015.
I first joined the Governing Body as the staff governor and then became co-opted onto the board when my term of office ran out. I worked at Birkdale Primary since 2008 and was one of the Deputy Headteachers until I left in August 2020 to become a Headteacher. Since leaving Birkdale I have remained on the board as a co-opted governor as the school and all the staff, children and parents have such special places in my heart and I am delighted to still be part of the BPS family.
Mrs Rachel Ramsden
I have been working at Birkdale Primary since 2008 after graduating and teaching abroad. Before becoming part of the Birkdale Primary family I taught in Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
Since joining Birkdale, I have had the opportunity to teach in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. Currently, I teach in Year One and lead the Key Stage One team. Across school, I am responsible for the teaching and learning of the Curriculum. I have a strong passion for all areas of the curriculum and enjoy working with all the subject leads. I am also a Maths Specialist Teacher (Mast) after completing my training at Edge Hill University. Currently, I am working towards achieving my NPQSL. I enjoy being a Staff Governor and strive to build relationships with other Governors to support the whole school.

I approached Birkdale with a view to becoming a governor as I am passionate about education and wanted to help contribute towards the education of young people in the local area.
My hobbies include golf and tennis, and I live locally with my wife & new puppy
I started my working life as a primary school teacher before becoming a local authority educational psychologist.
My 3 children all attended Birkdale Primary School and have now moved on to secondary and further education.
It's great to still be able to have a connection with the school in my capacity as a co-opted governor
