Welcome to the Design and Technology page
Design Technology is the purposeful use of knowledge, skills and physical resources to create products that meet a perceived need. Design Technology is part of every child's immediate experience. It is important that children are not only aware of what Design Technology is, but also develop a practical approach to it.
The curriculum involves every child in meaningful activities, which allow pupils to design and make. The process involves analysis, problem solving, practical capability and evaluation skills which are all transferable. Throughout school, children are encouraged and led through the designing, making and evaluating process which suits their natural enquiring minds with which they enter school.
The curriculum allows the opportunity for teacher to plan Design Technology projects that link with their class topic. This enables children to learn through creativity and enjoyment.
In Design and Technology, we have dedicated a week each term to the study of this subject.
In each year group, the children will learn about aspects of Design and Technology, focusing in on various design and making techniques. The children will be involved in the design, making and evaluating of their DT projects.
