Welcome to the Design and Technology page

Design Technology is the purposeful use of knowledge, skills and physical resources to create products that meet a perceived need. Design Technology is part of every child's immediate experience. It is important that children are not only aware of what Design Technology is, but also develop a practical approach to it.

The curriculum involves every child in meaningful activities, which allow pupils to design and make. The process involves analysis, problem solving, practical capability and evaluation skills which are all transferable. Throughout school, children are encouraged and led through the designing, making and evaluating process which suits their natural enquiring minds with which they enter school.

The new curriculum allows the opportunity for teacher to plan Design Technology projects that link with their class topic. This enables children to learn through creativity and enjoyment.

Here are some photos of Year 2 children designing and making Tudor houses that were then burnt in a reconstruction of the Fire of London!
