June Update

There have been so many of you sending your work on Purple Mash this week so well done to you all!!! Remember if you are doing any different things you can always upload the photographs to our Year Two floorbook or send it on Twitter!

Next week, starting from Monday 15th June, we are following a theme around circuses. If you have never been to a circus before it might be a good idea to ask an adult at home to show you some pictures online of things you find at a circus. Please make sure you do this with an adult and start to think about why some people might not like circuses whilst others do.

Key Information

We aim to promote a love of reading in Year Two and have lots of exciting books we plan to share with the children.

To support this at home, please ensure your child reads regularly at home and always has their book and diary in their book bag so we can pick this up in school too.

We encourage them to change their books twice a week.

Indoor P.E will be on Tuesday afternoons

Outdoor P.E will be on Thursday afternoons

Homework books will continue to be used as they were last year; with each child receiving a set of new tasks each half term. We encourage you to support your child with completing as many of the tasks as possible as children always enjoy sharing what they have achieved with their classmates.

SPRING TERM

Spring is coming and we cannot believe we are

already halfway through Year Two!

We have had a busy start to this term since Christmas!!

We came back in January to reading lots of different Julia Donaldson stories- we liked so many of them, we couldn’t agree on what was our class favourite! Then we moved onto everyone’s favourite - Roald Dahl! We read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and wrote our own amazing descriptions of the chocolate room.....if only it was real!!!!

We are now looking at traditional tales but with a twist! So you think you know the story of The Three Little Pigs but have you ever thought about the wolf’s side of the story?

Before half term, we enjoyed a D.T week in Year Two where we designed and made our own money containers. We learned to sew and attach detail to fabric to create the designs we had planned. We are looking forward to taking them home soon to show you how proud we are of our work!

SHARE A STORY

We launched our Share a Story month today (27th February-29th March)

Please share a story, a chapter or even a couple of pages at home as often as possible over the next month. Make a note of how many shares you do at home and sponsor your child for them. We will be sharing in school each day and send home our total at the end of the month. Add this number to your shares at home to make your child’s total for the month. Please send in any sponsor money then for how well your child has done and remember there will be prizes in school for those with the most shares!

GOOD LUCK 2M- I know you can do it!!!

AUTUMN TERM

2M enjoyed learning all about the Great Fire of London. They learnt all about London, where and how the fire started and what happened after the fire. We designed our own 17th century houses on the computer and then drew them accurately too. The children then made their houses and for an authentic look they added straw to the roofs.

Every child in Year Two took part in our Christmas extravaganza, I’m Gonna Shine! It was by far the best nativity show ever! It was so lovely to see every child taking on a role and their singing and dancing was exceptional! Even Bentley made an appearance and behaved onstage!!

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and cannot wait to

hear about your Christmas holidays when we are back!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2M!!!
