They will also get one extra piece of homework a week on a Friday which will alternate between an English or a Maths piece. This will be due in by the following Friday. We appreciate your support in helping your child to further their learning at home.

We have had an exciting start to the term as Sister Elaine from the Royal Liverpool Hospital visited us to talk about nursing today. The class loved comparing what it was like for Florence Nightingale to modern day medical care. We were even able to test out the medical gloves, mask and apron! See the bottom of the page for our photograph with Sister Elaine.

We will be learning all about the continents of the world this term and locating them on maps, then looking in closer detail at the continent of Africa. We will be finding out what life in Kenya is like and comparing life in an African village to our life.

We will be working harder than ever this term to finish our year in Year Two and then it'll soon be time to think about moving up to KS2. Please support your child at home during this last term with lots of extra reading or see myself or Miss Butler for other ideas to help!

It has been a great start to our Spring term, which is good seeing as our topic this term is 'Britain is Great'. We will be learning about the countries of the United Kingdom and then looking into some British history when finding out who Florence Nightingale was.

We had a great day recently on the playground all day for a Bike It day.  It was amazing seeing how many children learnt to ride their bike without stabilisers in only one day.

We have been learning about Julia Donaldson in our English lessons and reading lots of her stories. We enjoyed sharing our own versions of Tiddler when many of our grandparents visited.

There's lots of other exciting things happening this term.........including.....a road safety talk, designing then making something out of clay and World Book Day will be here on Thursday 1st March!

-----------------------------------------------Autumn Term

What a fabulous start to our week in Year Two!! We have been getting to know one another and hearing lots of exciting news from the summer holidays!

Already the children are showing what amazing role models they're going to be as Year Two pupils! We have a new system in school to recognise and celebrate wonderful examples of good behaviour, kindness and manners so you may hear the children talking about 'being spotted'. Two children from our class were the first in the school to be spotted today so we're extremely proud! Keep posted to hear more about it!

This term we will be learning about the Great Fire of London. We will be looking at how the fire started and why it spread so easily. Look out for pictures on Twitter of our own models of the houses and our own fire! Don't'll all be in the safe hands of the fire brigade and you'll be invited in to watch on the day!

Keep posted for more information throughout the year

but don't forget to catch me at the start or end

of the day if you need to.
